BIOGRAPHY

I am an Italian musician, composer and painter, born in 1977. I owe my musical education to Maestro Stefano Viola and Maestro Paolo Pegoraro. From a very early stage in my career I showed a strong inclination towards composition. Immediately after my graduation in Music in 1999 with top marks, I was forced, in September 2000, to temporarily retire from performing concerts as a result of a neurophysiological disease called focal dystonia. Fortunately, between 2002 and 2003, after 14 months of a motor rehabilitation programme at the “Institute of Physiology and Medicine of Art” in Terrasa (BCN), I made a full recovery. To this day I continue to collaborate with the aforementioned institute (www.institutart.com - www.fcart.org/distonia/).
During my forced retirement I studied musical composition, combining it with pictorial research. Starting from Kandinsky's theories and Klee's writings, I created a phono-chromatic system, , based on the relationship between sound and color. Many of my works are a union of my paintings and musical compositions.
In 2010, together with the painter Max Ciogli, I cofounded SINE, an art movement of synaesthetic synthesis, whose main goal is the investigation of the relationship between sound, color and movement. In 2012 we published the artistic manifesto. After the foundation of this group, our research was, and continues to be used in therapy. In fact, through the “National Deaf Institute” in Rome, the artistic experiences of the group are merged to create a system that would allow deaf people to relate to the musical sound experience.
As a musician I achieved several awards at many national and international COMPETITION:
  • 2nd Prize at “Città di Asti National Competition” (1991)
  • 1st Prize at “Azzano X Young Talent Competition” (1997)

DYSTONIA

Focal dystonia is a neulogical disease that affects and prevents the proper movements control. From 2000 to 2003 I was forced to interrupt my concert activities as a result of this disease. In 2002 I started to do a rehabilitation physiotherapeutic program and, after over a year of work, I was successfully recover, retaking my technical and interpretative skills as well as my concert activity.
There is a very simple proverbIt that say: "every cloud has a silver lining." So to speak with Hegel, I could say that "one can consider the sense of the historical process only at the end of the process itself". The encounter with the dystonia has awakened in me the need to develop a totally creative and original relationship with art.
In addition to a primordial need to which I had not given enough space, creating has proven to be a way to survive the lack of direct contact with the instrument. This is the reason that I started my pictorial and compositional research effort to create sinesthetic relationships between these two forms of art. Today, this creative aspect has become the fundamental part of my artistic journey and a way to identify myself inside the international guitar and compositional world.
